When I decided to plunge into the insane world of the online, no one told me that I would need to get my act together so far as my writing was concerned. My first realization of this surely came when I started to blog. With high enthusiasm and ready to paint my ideas with black digital ink, I suddenly found myself in a situation where I just stirred at the screen with my hands hovering on top of the keyboard like a zombie. Yep, I was hit by the writer’s block syndrome.
Luckily for me, I have devised some means which enable me to get back on track when I find myself in this peculiar situation. Perhaps my remedies would also assist your case.
- Stop thinking, just write!
Although I don’t have the scientific data to back this up, you and I know that a blank sheet of paper just has a way of sucking one into a state of oblivion. Unless you decide to zap out of this state by beginning to write, we may lose you in dream land for a while.
- Take a break
If the crazy writing doesn’t cut it (writing without thinking), just take a short break from your work. That may all be just what you need.
- Stay focused and take it easy
High pressure situations will almost always suck the creativity out of you. Being an online entrepreneur, you may find yourself under self-inflicted pressure to make money or even deliver on certain obligations within a specified time-frame. When you start to detect this pattern in your work, try to break out of it while still staying focused on your dream. Remind yourself of why you started out in the first place. Remember that it always takes I little bit of patience and a lot of dedication.
- Find your Inspiration triggers
As a writer, you’re going to have to be inspired in order to keep producing good quality content. As individuals, we are inspired by different situations. What are your specific inspiration triggers? Why are you no longer engaging in the sort of activities that specifically cause you to generate a thousand ideas? As soon as you find the answers to these questions, you will soon get back to writing.
Have you devised a method of dealing with writer’s block that you would like to share? We would highly appreciate your most valued input in the form a comment below.
Keep well,
Mohau Mpoti

What helps me sometimes is to break the assignment in chunks so that it doesn’t appear so daunting. For example, I write questions about the topic I am supposed to write and answer them, then I delete the questions and edit the draft I am left with. Another thing that works sometimes is to step away from the computer and pick up pen and paper.
Great suggestions Ana! Thanks a lot

Just kidding. Great ideas. Just recently I wrote a blog that had to do with the fact that I didn’t know what to write a blog about. It actually helped me come up with a lot of other things to write about.
